Getting started with Flow
On this page 11
Flow is charge-aware navigation for electric unicycles, e-scooters, e-bikes, and onewheels. It chains J1772, RV, and wall-outlet stops into a continuous route so you can ride any distance without worrying about running dry.
Install Flow
Flow is in open beta on both platforms:
- Android (10 or later) — Google Play
- iOS — TestFlight
If you're installing a tester APK directly instead, Android may show an "Install unknown apps" prompt — that's standard for sideloaded builds. Tap Install Anyway.
Permissions
Flow requests two permissions on first launch:
- Location — required. Powers the map, route building, and nearby charger display.
- Bluetooth — optional but recommended. Connects to your wheel for live telemetry (speed, battery %, range).
Grant both for the full experience. Flow works without Bluetooth but you won't see live wheel data.
Set up your vehicle profile
Your vehicle profile tells Flow your battery capacity and range so charge-stop math is accurate.
- Open Settings (gear icon at the bottom of the screen).
- Tap Vehicle Profiles → Add Profile.
- Browse the template library — 60+ wheels from Begode, Inmotion, KingSong, Leaperkim, Veteran, and more.
- Select your wheel. Flow pre-fills battery capacity (Wh), max range, safety margin, and charge wattage.
- Adjust values if your battery has degraded or you've done any modifications.
If your wheel isn't in the library, tap Custom Profile and enter your Wh capacity, practical range, and charge wattage manually.
Set your home location
Home location powers the home icon in the Where to? bar — your route back is then two taps away.
- Open Settings → Home Location.
- Tap Set Current Location, or Choose Location to pick it on a map.
Connect your wheel via Bluetooth
- Power on your wheel.
- Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on.
- Flow auto-scans for nearby wheels on launch. Your wheel appears in the connection list.
- Tap it to connect. Flow detects the protocol automatically (Inmotion V2, Veteran/Leaperkim, Begode/Gotway).
- Once connected, live speed, battery %, and range appear in the telemetry dock at the bottom of the map.
Flow saves your last connection and auto-reconnects on future launches. If connection drops mid-ride, it retries automatically.
Plan your first route
Flow has two ways in. Use the first when you just need to get somewhere; use the second when the ride itself is the point.
Just navigate there
- Tap Where to? on the map and type a place — or long-press anywhere on the map to drop a pin.
- A card appears for that point. Tap Route here. (Explore looks around the point instead; Start here makes it your starting point.)
- Flow builds route candidates. On rides of 30 miles or more it ranks them for adventure quality, favoring scenic two-lane highways over freeways; shorter trips are ranked on safety and time.
- Tap CHARGE to add charge planning. This first route is deliberately route-only — charging is its own step. Once it's on, Flow places stops wherever the ride outruns your range, each showing arrival battery % and estimated charge time.
- Tap GO to start turn-by-turn navigation. To save the route instead, tap EDIT first.
Build it in Route Studio
Open the Routes tab and tap NEW ROUTE. Studio starts a blank route from your current location and builds it tap by tap — each tap on the map or on a charger extends the route in the order you drop them. That's the way to string together the waypoints, detours, and specific charge stops a single destination can't express.
Studio is also where a route goes to be reshaped: swap a charging stop for a different charger, or compare the ranked alternates. Any saved route reopens there with Edit.
Drag the line. In the editor (tap EDIT first — this doesn't work on the view you land on from a quick route), press and hold on the route line, holding still for a moment, then keep dragging before you lift your finger. That drops a new stop exactly where you place it and reroutes through it. Drop it on a charger to make it a charge stop, or on the trash zone to remove it; Undo reverses the whole placement in one step. If the map pans instead, you moved before the hold registered — hold still a beat longer.

Read the live HUD
While riding, the screen shows:
- Turn-by-turn banner — next maneuver and distance at the top.
- Telemetry dock — speed, battery %, and range at the bottom.
- Range overlay — a shaded envelope shows how far you can ride and still make it. It contracts as your battery drops. See Planning a charge-aware route.
Routing home
Tap the home icon in the Where to? bar to select your saved home as a destination, then Route here to build the route — and CHARGE if the ride home needs charging stops. If no home is set yet, that icon takes you to the screen for setting one. See Routing home & low-battery safety.
