Connecting your wheel via Bluetooth
On this page 8
Flow connects to your electric unicycle (or other PEV) over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to display live speed, battery percentage, and estimated range. Once paired, this data updates in real time in the telemetry dock at the bottom of the map.
Supported wheels
Flow auto-detects the BLE protocol for most major EUC brands:
| Protocol | Brands / models |
|---|---|
| Inmotion V2 | P6, V13, V14, V12 HT |
| Veteran / Leaperkim | Patton, Lynx, Sherman L, Sherman S, Oryx |
| Begode / Gotway | Race, Panther, T4, XMax, Master, Hero, Falcon Pro, and all other Begode models |
| KingSong | F22 Pro, F18, S22, S22 Pro |
E-scooters and e-bikes with standard BLE telemetry may also connect, depending on their firmware. Flow does not currently support OBD-style connections for Sur-Ron or similar.
First-time pairing
- Power on your wheel. Make sure it's in normal operating mode, not sleep or transport mode.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone (Settings → Bluetooth, or the quick-settings toggle).
- Open Flow. The app auto-scans for nearby BLE devices on launch.
- Your wheel appears in the connection list in the telemetry dock area. Tap it.
- Flow performs a protocol handshake — this takes 2–5 seconds. When complete, you'll see live speed, battery %, and range in the dock.
Flow saves your last-connected wheel and auto-reconnects on subsequent launches.
If your wheel doesn't appear
- Confirm your wheel is powered on and in normal operating mode — not sleep or transport mode.
- Another app holding your wheel is fine. Flow asks your phone which wheels are already connected, so a wheel held by EUC World, WheelLog or Darknessbot still shows up in the list — marked Available instead of a signal strength. Open the two apps in whichever order you like. (One phone can share a wheel between apps; a wheel still can't talk to two phones at once.)
- Force-close Flow and reopen it. The app re-scans for devices on launch.
- Check distance. BLE range is typically 10–30 meters in open air; walls and interference can reduce it. Stand near your wheel.
Manual protocol selection
If auto-detection doesn't identify your wheel correctly:
- Tap the device in the connection list to open its detail view.
- Tap Protocol and select your wheel's brand from the list.
- Flow reconnects using the selected protocol.
Telemetry data
When connected, Flow reads and displays:
- Speed — current speed in mph or km/h (configurable in Settings → Preferences → Distance Unit).
- Battery % — state of charge from the wheel's BMS.
- Estimated range — calculated from your vehicle profile's consumption coefficients and current battery level.
If the wheel reports motor temperature, that is also displayed when available.
Auto-reconnect during a ride
If BLE drops mid-ride (tunnel, interference, power nap), Flow keeps trying to reconnect in the background. The telemetry dock shows a reconnecting indicator. Navigation continues regardless of BLE state — the connection is for telemetry only, not for GPS or routing.
Telemetry in group rides
While you're live in a group ride, your battery % and speed are visible to everyone holding the ride link or code — other participants, the host, and anyone watching in a browser. See Live group rides →.
Privacy note
Wheel telemetry (battery readings, speed data) is stored in a de-identified form — linked to your wheel model, not your account or ride — to help Flow improve range estimates for all riders. No personally identifiable information is attached to this data. See the privacy policy for full details.
